Went to India instead
Just accidentally rediscovered this blog. It was fun to see my last entry in 2012 when I was planning to be an instructor in Mexico.
I ended up in India for totally unrelated reasons. Eventually became a scuba instructor in 2015, in India.
It's now 10 years later. I am currently in Thailand.
Last time I dove was in 2018 in the Red Sea.
Last time I renewed my diving instructor membership was last year.
I pay my due once every other year, jusrt to keep my standing and not have to redo the instructor course all over again.
Will I ever cuba diving again? I don't know. I still have my gear. We'll see . . .

The return of Man of the Seas
After a long hiatus from diving, I am back!
This year, I plan on becoming a scuba instructor. I am getting my affairs set up to be ready for my IE this June in Mexico.
In the mean time, I need to revise a bunch of theory to get me up to speed. Do some diving to get back in the groove.
I will then start studying the theory using PADI's elearning within the next couple of weeks.
Safety is a big concern in diving and an instructor needs to follow the rules carefully. A lot of the new stuff that needs to be learned, when becoming an instructor, focuses on safety standards to be followed.
When things are done by the book, risk is greatly reduced.
First thing is to check my equipment to make sure it's all in order. then do my study plan and preparation until the end of may when I will be leaving for Mexico.

not much diving in 2009
Last time i dove wasin early march in DR with my friends at North Coast.
I knew I would not dive for the rest of the year because of my heavy schedule.
I realize that I never wrote anything about my week in Bayahibe in April of 2008.
Well, it was great. I love this small town, the Hotel Bayahibe.
I had VIP treatment with a new operator. Dove a crystal clear cave. Way clearer than Dudu. Saw tons of stingrays and a nurse shark. Diving on the south coast is better than the north coast. i was officially in the Caribbean sea, not the Atlantic Ocean.
I plan on getting back into diving in 2010.

No Internet
I have several stories to tell about my week in Bayahibe but since my return to my home in Quebec, I have no internet connection and am eagerly waiting for the delive of my wireless modem.
In the mean time, I have to go to my public library for free internet access.

Gearing up for the south shore
Next Saturday, I will be diving in the Caribbean sea. Up until now, I have dove in the Atlantic. Even when I used to dive in Cuba, it was still the Atlantic. It will be a first for me :-)
I will be in Bayahibe close to many wrecks and lots of interesting stuff.
